Subject: Negotiation with Richard

Thank you for learning about ABC House’s corporate philosophy and explaining it to our customers.
Sylvia asked me to go to Seattle and convince Richard regarding his land.
But I don’t think I have a high-ranking position to negotiate with Richard.
I would like to hear your honest view.

Regards,

Jennyさん発言

(出張に対して前向きではない感じが出てしまう)

It almost seems as though this is a task that Sylvia gave him that he doesn’t feel passionate about and maybe doesn’t even want to go. It also seems as though he is going there to persuade Richard all by himself.

(自分が適任者ではないと感じていることについて)

This may come from a sense that he doesn’t have enough experience or a high level of superiority, which I think are things that are valued in Japan. But from an American perspective, it’s important to know what he brings to the table and how it will help the situation. It would be good to explain the specific concerns he has.

(肩書の重要性について)

I agree that the title is much more important than age. And I think it’s common for people to be concerned with their job titles or lacking years of experience. But the most important thing is to show what you can bring to the table and how your unique skill set can help the situation.
