Lucy: Speaking of business culture in Singapore, did you notice anything about it while you were working as an intern here?
Takashi: Firstly, people respect British business practices. For example, contracts are based on British law.
Lucy: Yeah, it’s natural for us considering we were under British influence for over 100 years. Anything else you have noticed?
Takashi: Well, I got the impression that people were taking a more pragmatic approach.
For example, if people are asked to meet someone for business, they assess the credibility to make sure whether they are worth meeting.
Lucy: That’s true. In a nutshell, it’s important to assess whether a business works economically or not. If there were a few chances to do business, it would be a waste of time for both sides.
Takashi: You have a point there. Anyway, I can’t wait to go to Singapore again. I’m looking forward to being able to breathe the same air.
