Lucy: How is your business trip to Singapore? I think it’s been a while, right?
Takashi: It hasn’t changed, really. I thought the atmosphere would be darker than before due to the pandemic. How about the other southeast Asia markets?
Lucy: Several countries have opened up their real estate market to foreign investors. It seems they still feel comfortable buying mansions in Singapore.
Takashi: The bank in Singapore offers mortgages for foreigners and the capital gains are tax-exempt.
Lucy: That’s right. On the other hand, the price of real estate is at the same level or higher than in Tokyo. This is why the investors are comparing with other markets in Malaysia, Thai, and the Philippines.
Takashi: Is it a matter of balancing risk and return?

(シンガポールについて)

I’ve never been to Singapore but I would love to visit someday. My impression is that it’s a very small country but very clean. I feel comfortable visiting because I don’t think I would have to worry about language barrier.
